The Masterclass in a Glass box contains the following 5 wines:
1- Herdade do Sobroso Reserva Branco: A wine with a bright, citrus colour. The aroma has floral and tropical fruit notes. In the mouth, the complexity of Antão Vaz emerges, giving the wine its freshness and intensity. A wine that reflects the authentic "terroir" of Alentejo.
2- Herdade do Sobroso Cellar Selection Branco: Fresh, rich wine with notes of white and tropical fruit. The palate is energetic but full, with an elegant and very long finish.
3- Herdade do Sobroso Reserva Tinto: Fermented in stainless steel tanks with a blend of native grape varieties and then aged for a further 12 months in 500-litre French Allier oak barrels. The Reserva Tinto is a full-bodied wine with a deep red colour. Its complex aroma has notes of ripe red berries, jam and chocolate and offers an intense and long-lasting aftertaste.
4- Herdade do Sobroso Cellar Selection Tinto: A unique combination of Syrah & Alicante Bouchet grapes gives this wine an incredible structure, still retaining the fruity notes of red berries, all complemented by the spicy notes of Syrah.
5- Herdade do Sobroso Grande Reserva: The Syrah & Alicante Bouchet grapes are carefully selected by hand, only the very best grapes from the farm are used in the final blend. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels.
More about Herdade Sobroso:

It is the perfect setting for the ripening of the grapes and only a few vineyards have this luxury and this partly explains why this winery can make very fine wines because there is never a water debt. In the soft Alentejo light you’ll find Herdade do Sobroso. A place where wine and landscape go hand in hand, without fuss. Perfect for anyone who loves authenticity.
Herdade do Sobroso history & location
Herdade do Sobroso is located in Vidigueira, in the warm heart of the Alentejo, close to the Alqueva dam and on the banks of the Guadiana River. The estate was purchased in the early 2000s by the family of Sofia and Filipe, who were still students at the time. She studied animal science, he studied oenology. Together they built a wine estate that has since become a well-known name in the region.
The location is quite special. In the north, the Mendro mountains protect the vineyards, while in the south the plains stretch endlessly. To the east flows the Guadiana River, bringing freshness and a unique microclimate. This gives the wines of Sobroso their extra depth and character.
Which grape varieties grow here?
Across 60 hectares of vineyards you’ll find both native and international grape varieties. For red wines: Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Trincadeira, Alfrocheiro, and Petit Verdot. For whites: Antão Vaz, Arinto, Alvarinho, Verdelho, and Perrum. This mix allows them to produce both powerful blends and fresh, fruit-driven styles.
Specialties of Herdade do Sobroso
One of the highlights in their portfolio is the ‘Anas’ range, named after the river that flowed through this region in Roman times. The gravelly soils and the proximity of water result in elegant, structured wines.
A few fun facts
- The estate covers more than 1,600 hectares, with thousands of cork oaks alongside the vineyards.
- There’s more to experience than just wine: jeep safaris, hot-air balloon rides at sunrise, kayaking, and cycling through the vineyards turn it into a full experience.
- The estate restaurant serves typical Alentejo dishes, complemented by traditional sweets such as sericaia and torta de laranja.
Herdade do Sobroso as an experience
Herdade do Sobroso is more than a winery. It’s a place where landscape, gastronomy, and hospitality come together. You don’t just taste the wines, you also feel the calm and openness of the Alentejo countryside.
