Description
Beautiful Champagne from the top house Drappier. 5% matured in large oak barrels for 12 months. This cuvée is the true expression of the Drappier style. The Carte d'Or gives hints of wild (dog) rose and stone fruits such as white peach in the nose. On the palate, the spicy notes also give complexity to a direct vinous style with the returning white peach, now also apricot and even red fruit. With longer maturation, ginger bread can still be noticed. The Drappier has a tasty core of fruit, lively acids and a chalky aftertaste. This Non Vintage Champagne is a blend of 75% Pinot Noir, 15% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Meunier

There will not be many wineries that have a monastery vault as a wine cellar. Champagne house Drappier can call itself the lucky owner of such a special relic from the past. Located in Urville on the Côte des Bar, this family business features a 12th-century cellar that was once part of the Clarivaux monastery. The area where this champagne house is located belongs to the Départment Aube in the south of Marne. It was not until 1927 that the region was upgraded to a full-fledged champagne wine-growing region. The Drappiers have been making champagne here since 1951. Michel Drappier is now in charge of the company. The winery has over 54 hectares. Grapes from another 50 hectares of vineyards are purchased to prepare the wines. The grape varieties they grow here are pinot noir (70%), chardonnay (15%) and pinot meunier. All wines go through malolactic fermentation. The 'Liqueur de dosage' matured in 20-year-old barriques.
