The brothers Antinori were pioneers in the production of sparkling wine with 2nd maturation in the bottle in the early 1900s. Giacomo Puccini was a fan and the wine was served at royal banquets at the time. He temporarily disappeared from the radar, but with the arrival of Franciacorta as an official appellation, the Montenisa Marchese Antinori sparkling wines have become an integral part of the family's beautiful portfolio. Franciacorta is the region in Italy where the similarity in terms of terroir is very similar to that of Champagne and also the grapes used are similar to those of Champagne.

All Marchese Antinori Franciacortas such as the Cuvée Royale, Rosé and Blanc de blancs - are produced from a selection of Chardonnay, Pinot Nero and Pinot Bianco grapes and are made on the Montenisa estate around the hamlet of Calino, near Lake Iseo in the heart of the Franciacorta appellation. The vineyards surrounding the villa of the Maggi family form the heart of the production of Marchese Antinori Franciacortass since 1999. Franciacortas like those of Antinori are made according to the champagne way, namely the traditional method.

After manual picking of the Chardonnay grapes, the must is fermented in stainless steel tanks. As with a champagne, the second fermentation takes place in the bottle and the wine remained on its lees for 24 months before disgorgement.

In the glass, this Blanc de Blancs from Antinori has a light yellow color with a creamy bubble and an elegant and persistent sparkle. The nose is fragrant and expressive with fruity and floral notes reminiscent of apples, bread crust and white peaches. The flavors are lively and fresh with a
fine balance and has perceptible elegance and finesse. The ideal serving temperature for the wine is between 7°-9° Celsius. A perfect accompaniment to hors d'oeuvres with fish and Asian food and of course the perfect aperitif. Its lively freshness and refined bubbles also make it a perfect wine as an after-dinner drink.

Marquis Piero Antinori is in charge and is assisted by his three daughters: Albiera, Allegra and Alessia. Funny those three A's. We are not going to bother you with all the awards that have been received over the years, because then this price list can no longer go through the letterbox. There are two red wines that are available on allocation and that one would like to get a few bottles from all over the world and that are Tignanello and Solaia and we also have these in our range at Grandcruwijnen.

In 1180, Ugo and Antinori di Rinuccino were officially named as owners of Castello di Combiate; a century later, the family who had moved to Florence were included in the register of the silk trade cooperative. In 1385, Giovanni di Piero, an indirect descendant, entered the wine guild as an apprentice. Since then, the wine-growing tradition of the Antinori family has been continuous. With the establishment of the Marchesi Antinori winery, the peak was reached in 1895 and already in 1898 the winery was built in San Casciano Val di Pesa, which is still the center of the widely branched group of properties in all major cultivation areas of Tuscany, Umbria. , Piemonte (since the early 90s through the purchase of the wine cellar Prunotto), Apulia and even California. The traditional house participating in the modern Tuscan wine-growing revolution owes much of its prestige to its former chief vinologist Giacomo Tachis, who produced exceptional wines such as Sassicaia, Tignanello (especially sangiovese), Solaia (especially cabernet) and many others. the other was responsible. Vinologist Renzo Cotarella also created one of the best chardonnays in Italy in the Umbrian Castello della Sala.
