How does this wine taste?

How full and heavy the wine feels in your mouth, like the difference between skimmed milk and cream. More alcohol, sugar and oak ageing make a wine fuller.

How much sugar you taste, from dry to sweet. Fruity is not the same as sweet: a dry wine can taste of ripe fruit.

How fresh and juicy the wine is: acidity makes your mouth water. High acidity tastes lively and refreshing, low acidity soft and round.

Pouilly-Fumé owes its name to Pouilly-sur-Loire, the heart of the AOC, and 'Fumé', literally 'smoked', referring to the local name for Sauvignon Blanc, 'blanc fumé'. Here, the term fumé refers to the ash-grey colour of the leaves of the Sauvignon Blanc. Pouilly-Fumé wines are generally dry, fresh, and balanced, floral and fruity, with a striking minerality in which 'silex' (flint) is often recognizable. The vines were planted in 1991, and four years later, Domaine Treuillet was founded. Sébastien Treuillet's small estate in Tracy-sur-Loire is known for the purity and refinement of its wines.

Sébastien Treuillet bought 3.5 hectares in Tracy sur Loire and 0.35 in Pouilly. His Pouilly-Fumé is a textbook example of finesse and drinkability. Delicious, pristine wines with striking brilliance and a vibrant yet not overpowering aroma. A feast for the taste buds. For it is light, elegant, and typical of the Sauvignon grape. A find, this mini-estate!

In the glass, the wine has a pale straw-yellow color with a delightful, open, and exotic aroma: smoky, with a hint of grassiness, elderflower, asparagus, flint, and freshly cut grass. The palate is open, with beautiful acidity and elegance, plenty of freshness and juiciness, liveliness, and minerality; it is delicious. Every effort is made here to preserve the purity of the fruit and the terroir. No tricks are used to force explosive aromas; instead, the choice has been made for elegance and finesse. It is therefore a versatile wine. Nevertheless, we highly recommend it with lightly smoked fish or with fresh to semi-ripe goat cheese (Chavignol, Selles-sur-Cher).

Treuillet
