What can we say about the wines of (Giuseppe) Quintarelli? The godfather of Veneto wines and famous for his Amarone? Actually, not much. This is simply the best, and since Giuseppe's passing, it has become very rare. This dry, minerally white wine is fruity with notes of pear, citrus, lily, and hazelnut. A strong attack with a pleasant bitterness in the finish. Long aftertaste.

The shy and quiet elderly man, Giuseppe Quintarelli, is THE benchmark for winemakers from Valpolicella. Born and raised in Cerè, he has run the family business, which dates back to 1924, since 1954. For the past 10 years, he has been assisted by his cousin Marco. This house presents wines made with a very traditional style, with those ever-so-recognizable, unique handwritten labels. His red wines are aged for an unprecedentedly long time (6 to 7 years) in Slovenian oak barrels, except for the cuvée "Alzero," which is aged in barriques.

" Our traditional flavors and methods must be cherished and not be forgotten. But above all, we cannot force nature. We must remain calm, be patient, use the right techniques, and possess a great deal of passion." These words symbolize the philosophy of Veneto's most famous producer.

Quintarelli's wines (along with Dal Forno and the rising Star Garbole ) are exceptionally complex and are undoubtedly among the greatest wines of all Italy. Iconic wines that, without any form of marketing, have become the most sought-after wines in the world, the ultimate "wanna haves" for collectors, rare on wine lists in even the finest restaurants, almost mythical in reputation.

In the years leading up to 'Bepi' Giuseppe Quintarelli's death in 2012 from Parkinson's disease, there was much confusion about the ups and downs of this absolute top wine house. Giuseppe Quintarelli had been ill for a long time, but his relatives (four daughters and a lot of grandchildren) started a new chapter more than a year after his death. Quintarelli's heirs Francesco and Lorenzo (both grandsons) now manage together with Giampaolo (son-in-law) and continue to focus on providing only top quality. The 2006 Amarone was only released in late 2015 and is among the very best Amarone's available.
