The Soave Classico Rétro from Bolla is a fresh, refined, and authentic interpretation of the classic white wines from the hilly heart of Soave. The wine is known for its light, elegant style with bright fruit, floral notes, and a subtle mineral tension. The retro-style label harks back to the long history of Bolla, one of Veneto's oldest and most renowned wineries.

Origin and character

The grapes for this Soave come from the original Classico region, where volcanic soils and chalky slopes produce wines with both aromatic expression and fresh structure. Garganega makes up the majority of the blend, supplemented by a small amount of Trebbiano di Soave. This combination creates a beautiful balance between juiciness and refinement. The microclimate, with warm days and cool nights, helps preserve freshness and keep the aromas clear.

In the glass, the wine displays a light straw yellow color. The aroma opens with notes of white peach, pear, lemon peel, and blossom, followed by a soft hint of almond. The palate is lively and refreshing, with a fine minerality that creates tension. The structure remains elegant and slender, typical of a well-made Soave Classico.

Vinification and style

Bolla uses a cool fermentation for this cuvée to enhance aromatic purity. The wine is aged on fine lees to add texture and subtlety without sacrificing freshness. The result is a pure, modern style that remains true to the classic Soave signature. No oak influence, no heavy textures, just lightness and finesse.

Cantina Bolla

The story of the Bolla winery starts with one man, Abele Bolla. He lives in the north of Italy, in the Veneto region, where he runs a small family inn. In order to offer his guests more than just a stay, he decided in 1893 to produce a wine that he could serve to his guests. This Soave is a light yellow, fresh, aromatic wine, which reflects the essence of the Veneto area. The demand for this wine grows as more and more people taste its wine. As a result, the family decided to fully focus on wine production. More than 130 years later, the Bolla winery has grown into a world-renowned winery with a wide range of wines. What has remained is the unique taste of the Bolla wines resulting from the special climate and terroir of the Veneto area.

Oenologist Christian Zulian has been a winemaker at Bolla since 2015. Before joining Bolla he worked for Marchesi Antinori for thirteen years and at Domaine Baron de Rothschild for several years.
