Description
The finest Sauvignon Blanc grapes from a vineyard with a (deliberately) very low yield are hand-picked in the very early morning after which they are immediately transferred to a cold room. From the cold room the grapes are selected box by box and only the good grapes go into this 100% Sauvignon Impromptu. The grapes are pressed very lightly so that only the first free-flow juice is used and this is then fermented in new American oak on its own must. Once the fermentation is complete the wine remains on its must until it is bottled and this takes place almost unfiltered in order to retain all the flavors.
The Sauvignon Blanc "Impromptu" has a powerful bouquet of smoke, beeswax and granite that you might not immediately identify as a Sauvignon Blanc - more like a Viognier. In the glass the wine has a beautiful light yellow color with green hues. In the nose the wine has very intense aromas with minerals and tropical fruit. The taste is very well balanced with fine tannins and subtle walnut, mandarin that lead to a very composed long finish. The wine is extremely well balanced with a very good acidity. This is really a "full glass". In the mouth you taste a rich weight of fruit, fresh and not sweet, good acidity and a very long and harmonious finish. This Impromptu is a beautiful Sauvignon blanc and it is a pity that only a very limited number of bottles are produced.

The 2008 Sauvignon Blanc “Impromptu” has a potent bouquet of smoke, beeswax and granite that you would have difficulty identifying as a Sauvignon Blanc – more like a Viognier. The palate is very well-balanced with fine tannins and subtle walnut, mandarin and tangerine peel notes on the mid-palate that lead to a very composed, finely-tuned finish. Excellent. Drink now-2016.

Light gold. Lime, grapefruit, jasmine and anise on the nose, with bright minerality and an exotic candied ginger quality. Racy, sharply defined citrus and pea skin flavors show impressive cut and palate-staining concentration, with a strong anise accent. Finishes with outstanding thrust, energy and focus, leaving mineral and chalk notes behind.
