Description
Manna is a tribute to Franz's wife, Maria Luisa Manna. Franz spent years crafting this wine in his quest for the finest gastronomic wine. He found it in an exceptional blend of the finest Riesling, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Rich, diverse aromas of pistachio and roses, and a complex, concentrated palate. A combination of soft, ripe flavors and a mineral structure.
The 2022 Manna is a blend of Riesling, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Kerner, and Sauvignon Blanc. Only the Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are fermented in oak. The wine's bouquet is quite expansive and layered, and it's almost impossible to distinguish a single varietal. Instead, the carefully integrated blend presents a vibrant bouquet of stone fruit, candied lemon, and a touch of spicy cumin seed. There's also a distinct floral component with honeysuckle and jasmine, and finally, the wine delivers a lovely mineral note. Because of its distinctive blend, this Manna has it all. A fantastic glass of wine, and try it with chicken marinated in Moroccan spices. Delicious!
Franz Haas boasts an incredible range of altitudes in its vineyards, ranging from 220 meters above sea level (where Lagrein is planted) to an impressive 1150 meters (where Pinot Nero is planted). These are some of the highest vineyards in Alto Adige.
ABOUT FRANZ HAAS
The Franz Haas winery, founded in 1880, is located in the beautiful Alto-Adige region on the border of Austria and Italy. Since then, the company has been growing for seven generations. The winery has always been passed down to sons of the same name, Franz. In the 1980s, most of the vineyards were renovated, creating space for new varietals better suited to the region's terroir.
The grapes come from 55 hectares of vineyards, starting at an altitude of 220 meters and rising to 1,150 meters. There is a wide variety of microclimates and soils, from clay to limestone. The vineyards are among the highest in Alto Adige.
The choice to plant vines at these altitudes has proven that they can produce optimal, aromatic wines with good acidity. Significant temperature variations between day and night and a great deal of attention to the vineyards have also contributed to this.

From a screw-capped bottle, the Franz Haas 2021 Manna has crushed flint or struck match on first nose, but that hint of reduction often appears in this blend of 40% Riesling, 20% Chardonnay, 15% Gewürztraminer, 15% Kerner and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. The wine settles into a pretty linear pattern of underripe tropical tones, star fruit, crisp pear and grapefruit. A citrusy-grapefruit note plays a bigger role on the palate, with pithy or pulpy tones that dovetail into a streamlined but very fresh finish. This is an ample release of 50,000 bottles.

2021 Bianco Manna

Drinking Window: 2023 - 2026
A sweet spice and floral blend complements candied lime and crushed apple notes as the 2021 Bianco Manna opens in the glass. This coasts across the palate lifted and finessed with a stunning mix of zesty acidity and ripe citrus under an air of tropical inner florals. The 2021 leaves a salty flourish and the mouth watering for more as Granny Smith apples slowly fade. The Manna is a blend of 40% Riesling, 20% Chardonnay, 15% Kerner, 15% Gewürztraminer and 10% Sauvignon Blanc.

Founded in 1880, the Franz Haas winery is located in the beautiful Alto-Adige area on the border of Austria and Italy. Since then, the company has been working on the road for seven generations. The winery was always passed down to sons of the same name, Franz. In the 1980s, most of the vineyards were renovated, creating space for new varieties that better suit the type of "terroir" of the region. The grapes come from 55 hectares of vineyards. The vineyards start at an altitude of 220 meters, rising to 1,150 meters. There is a wide variety of microclimates and soils, from clay to limestone. The vineyards are among the highest vineyards in Alto Adige.
The choice of planting vines at these altitudes has proven that optimal and aromatic wines can be produced with a nice acidity. Large temperature differences between day and night and an enormous attention to the vineyards have also helped. Franz Haas is recognized as a leading expert on the most sensitive grape variety of all: the Pinot Nero. Despite all the attention, dedication and hard work, this beautiful grape is stubborn and has its own character, just like Franz himself. The labels of the bottles are also characteristic. These are by Riccardo Schweizer, who has collaborated extensively with artists such as Picasso, Chagall, Cocteau, Paul Éluard and Le Corbusier during his career.
