Domaine Henri Bourgeois is located in Chavignol, where the wine estate covered 2 hectares 60 years ago. The tenth generation of the family business now owns 65 hectares that supply grapes for half of the wines produced. The family also has a property in the Marlborough region of New Zealand and even bottles some of their spicy sancerres. The top wines of sancerre and pouilly-fumé mature in oak barrels.

The grapes come from the Loire Valley with its countless vineyards that have an ideal climate and substrate for making delicious Sauvignon blanc. The lime in the subsoil provides a base of acids and tension, the clay provides structure and strength. In the glass the wine has a light straw yellow color. On the nose, this Pouilly Fumé has a fine scent, wonderfully broad, lush and exotic, gooseberries, ripe pear, flowers, sparkling. In the mouth the wine is tasty and juicy, exotic and lively, beautiful acidity, light plumpness, nice length and power. A delicious crisp dry white wine that is delicious as an aperitif, nice with crustaceans and shellfish, turbot with spinach, a beautiful crottin de chavignol.

Pouilly-Fumé, on the right bank of the Loire, is located directly opposite Sancerre. The subsurface and climate are therefore broadly similar. Pouilly-Fumé is known for its surface of flint, silex, but this surface is also found in Sancerre. And the subsoil of clay with Sancerre lime, we also see in Pouilly fume. This wine is made from such a subsoil, from the slopes in Saint-Andelain. The lime in the subsurface provides a base of acids and tension, the clay provides structure and strength. Fermentation at a low temperature, between 15 and 18 degrees, produces delicious fruit. This is followed by maturation on fine lees, making it wonderfully ripe and rich. A delicious Pouilly-Fumé, in a special, mouth-filling and powerful style.
