Apostelhoeve Cuvée St. Pieter Brut 2023 is an elegant sparkling wine from Maastricht with freshness, a fine mousse, and a style that immediately convinces.
Apostelhoeve Cuvée St. Pieter Brut 2023 from Maastricht
Apostelhoeve is one of the most famous wine estates in the Netherlands and is situated on the Sint-Pietersberg in Maastricht. This historic site has been connected to the city for centuries and continues to shape one of the country's most distinctive wine projects today. With the Cuvée St. Pieter Brut, Apostelhoeve demonstrates that South Limburg can produce excellent sparkling wine with precision, freshness, and refinement.
Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Sint-Pietersberg
This exclusive brut is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. This combination gives the wine both tension and structure. Chardonnay provides freshness, elegance, and length, while Pinot Noir adds more depth, roundness, and subtle red fruit. The location on the Sint-Pietersberg, with its calcareous soils and favorable exposure, contributes to the refined and lively character of the wine.
Traditional method and 24 months sur latte
The Cuvée St. Pieter Brut is made using the traditional method, in which the second fermentation takes place in the bottle. Subsequently, the wine ages sur latte for 24 months. It is precisely this aging that imparts extra complexity and finesse. It creates subtle notes of brioche and roasted nuts, while the mousse remains fine and the wine retains its fresh structure. The result is a sparkling wine with balance, detail, and a refined structure.
Color, aroma and taste of Apostelhoeve Cuvée St. Pieter Brut
In the glass, the wine has a light golden yellow color with a sparkling, fine mousse. On the nose, freshly baked brioche, roasted almonds, red fruit, and a hint of citrus come together beautifully. On the palate, the wine is elegant and precise, with lively freshness, fine bubbles, and a fruity core. The finish is long, refined, and clean, with a lovely tension that invites the next sip.
2023 as the basis for a refined Limburg brut
This wine clearly demonstrates how strongly sparkling wine from South Limburg has developed. The combination of healthy ripeness, fresh acidity, and careful bottle aging results in a brut with depth and elegance. Not heavy or broad, but rather crisp, refined, and gastronomically versatile. This makes the wine interesting for sparkling wine enthusiasts looking for something with a distinct origin and a clear style.
Wine and food
Apostelhoeve Cuvée St. Pieter Brut 2023 is versatile. Naturally, it is perfect as an aperitif, but it is also very suitable with oysters, scallops, lobster, sushi, or refined fish dishes. Thanks to the combination of freshness, mousse, and light brioche notes, this wine also pairs well with festive appetizers, soft cheeses, or dishes with a subtle creamy element.

Wijngaard Apostelhoeve is one of the most famous and beautiful vineyards in the Netherlands. The winery is located south of the city of Maastricht on the Louwberg, an extension of the Cannerberg on the west side of the Jeker valley.
Wine grapes were grown in the Jeker valley as early as the Middle Ages. Around 1600 the 'Little Ice Age' ended this. Hugo Hulst, fruit grower, decided to build another vineyard at De Apostelhoeve in 1970. As a result, Apostelhoeve has now become the oldest functioning wine company in the Netherlands. Currently, this beautiful winery has an area of 6 hectares that is used for viticulture.
The soil consisting of pebble and marl with a layer of loess on top lends itself perfectly to the grape varieties: pinot gris, riesling, auxerrois and rivaner. Only white wines are made from these grape varieties, which are related in style and production to wines from Alsace and which also have a wonderful fresh, mineral taste.
Wijnhuis Apostelhoeve always works very carefully with all its processes. Take, for example, the harvest of the grapes. This is seen by this wine house as one of the most crucial steps in the winemaking process. The time of harvest is mainly determined by the ripeness of the grape, as measured by sugar, acid and tannin levels with winemakers making their decision to choose according to the wine style they want to produce. The weather can also be the roster of harvesting with the threat of heat, rain, hail and frost that can damage the grapes and cause various vine diseases.
