Last year, A&D Wines was named the most revolutionary wine producer by Portugal's most important wine magazine VINHO because of their innovative Vinho Verde. A&D are Alexandre & Dialina Gomas, technical engineers with a great love for wine. You can immediately see that technical precision in the extremely healthy vineyards and very clean winery in the renovated Quinta de Santa Teresa. The wines are made from indigenous varieties such as Avesso, Arinto and Malvasia Fina, with minimal intervention. Result: incredibly pure wines with a lot of authenticity of the grape, expression and freshness.
Monólogo represents a single grape from a single vineyard. Each wine from the Monólogo series has a 'monologue': its own story with its own character. That character is depicted in the expressive labels. The label shows a woman with flowers and a fruit basket. They portray the delicate character of the wine. The Monólogo Arinto P24 is a monovarietal wine produced with grapes from the P24 plot of Quinta de Santa Teresa, based on sustainable agricultural practices. The wine is Vegan and Bio certified.
The Arinto is a fresh wine, with delicate aromas and good acidity. fresh and sparkling straw yellow in the glass. Initially a bit closed aromas, but after a bit of rolling and a little time, a beautiful freshness emerges piece by piece in the nose with citrus fruit such as lime, a light floral tone. On the palate the wine is slightly minerally and has a lively but balanced acidity and leaves a fresh and pleasant aftertaste. The wine is very delicate and difficult to find such a white white wine at this price.

The 2017 Arinto P24 "Monólogo" is bone dry and comes in at 13.5% alcohol, a dramatic and deliberate change from the more sugary profile of the 2015. Sourced from Plot 24 in Quinta de Santa Teresa, this was tasted about 60 days after bottling, at which point it seemed nicely balanced, as well as exuberant and intense. After the first rush of concentrated fruit—and this does seem fairly deep this year—this shows off the expected acidity from this high-acid grape. As it airs and warms, there is fine tension on the lingering finish. It is a very nice package. Granting that this is very young and unevolved, this seems like a pretty good match for the fine 2015, even if the style is completely different. This runs around 7.5 euros in Portugal, which means that it is a nice bargain. It will be interesting to see how it ages. It may well do better than anticipated.
This issue mostly features the winery's "Monólogo" series—monovarietals with very specific plot numbers. Look carefully, though. The details of the brand are in tiny print, like "Avesso P67," and the labels are similar in style. Of course, you'll see different images on each label, differentiating the brand. The vintage date is also hard to find—only in tiny print on the side. These are, by the way, real wines. There is no fizz. Although the winery now has an importer, only the Monólogo series wines are brought in. That's regrettable, since some of the others are pretty fine too (like the Singular).

Quinta de Santa Teresa is the Portuguese wine estate of Alexandre & Dialiana Gomas, technical engineers with a lot of love for wine. This technical precision is immediately reflected in the extremely healthy vineyards and very clean winery. The winery owns vineyards in Baião. This wine region belongs in name to Vinho Verde, but is located inland against the Douro. Don't expect carbonation or low alcohol, but a modern style of white wines that is richer than many a Vinho Verde. These are wines with aromatic expression and a lot of freshness.

Originating from the Vinho Verde sub-region of Baião, right next to the Douro area. In this warmer microclimate, the grapes acquire a concentration that is particularly aromatic for Vinho Verde. The oldest vines are used for this wine.
