Description
The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for this Terrazas de Los Andes Cabernet Sauvignon are planted on terraces with an altitude of 980 meters above sea level. These terraces are also called Perdriel Terrace. Here we find the best terroir for the Cabernet Sauvignon. Surrounded by the Andes mountains, the grapes are in a safe environment to grow. The warm hours of sunshine in combination with the wind that blows through the Andes provide a perfect climate. Due to the melt water that comes from the mountain tops that are permanently snow-covered, natural irrigation takes place. At the perfect ripeness at the end of March or beginning of April, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand. After maceration and fermentation of 21 days, this red Argentine wine is allowed to mature for 12 months in French oak barrels, after which 1/3 is new oak. After bottling, the wine goes back into the cellars for 6 months to mature in the bottle.
The Terrazas de Los Andes Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon has an intense ruby-red color as befits a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine needs some time to loosen up and has a very nice freshness which is due to the high-altitude vineyard and the very large difference in temperature, i.e. day and night. In the nose we smell cherry, black currant, figs, olives, spices and a hint of vanilla due to the oak aging. The taste is deep, full and wonderfully powerful. The rich nuances of black fruit are perfectly balanced with hints of spices and cocoa. The long finish is fruity and powerful with pleasant tannins.

Terrazas de los Andes itself is deeply rooted in its original environment, from the land on which the grapes grow to the local community we are a part of. Preserving the delicate ecological balance of nature and contributing to the well-being of the people is a key priority for the House. We are actively looking for alternative methods and techniques to conserve soil, biodiversity and natural resources. Water is scarce in the Mendoza region.
