Description
The Strydom Danièle Chenin Blanc is the flagship of their Chenin Blanc line. In the glass, the wine has a beautiful golden yellow color with distinct notes of vanilla, ripe apricot, walnut, honey, and tropical fruit on the nose. On the palate, this is an elegant, full-bodied, juicy Chenin Blanc that is wonderfully fresh with good structure and tremendous length. The Danièle Chenin Blanc pairs well with hearty, spicy dishes featuring white meat, such as spicy Asian dishes.
Strydom has found an ideal location. The vineyards have very low yields and are situated in cooler climates, which gives Strydom wines freshness, elegance, and beautiful acidity. The Strydom Freshdom is made by the highly passionate and gifted winemakers Rianie and Louis Strydom.
The Chenin grapes were delivered early in the morning and crushed in the press. The juice began cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks, and after fermenting half of the sugar, it was decanted into two 400L amphorae clay pots for the first harvest. The second, slightly riper batch finished fermentation in two 500L and one 225L older French oak barrels. After fermentation, the wine was aged on the lees for eight months, which explains the complexity of this beautiful Chenin Blanc. This is also a wine that will continue to develop with age. Half in oak, amphora the rest, on the lees till bottling. Generous tropical fruit notes, creamy & rich. Subtle nut, oatmeal & honey in 2019.

Rianie and Louis Strydom are a real powerhouse couple in the South African wine scene. Winemakers at well-known Stellenbosch producers and members of the esteemed Cape Winemakers Guild, they set up their own winery as a side project in 2012.
The Strydom logo of a lion, a bee and stars represents what they are all about: family, strength, tenacity and reaching for the stars; relentlessly pursuing excellence in winemaking and life.
Rianie Strydom began her journey into wine at a young age, and a fierce passion for all things vinous grew quickly. Both Rianie and her husband Louis did a degree in Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Stellenbosch, and a Diploma at Elsenburg Agriculture College.
While Louis continues with other projects, Rianie has decided to focus solely on Strydom Vineyards. Louis still looks after the viticulture side of the business but Rianie takes charge in the winery, crafting wines that can capture their origins and the personality of where they are grown. Inspired by the great classics of Bordeaux, the Strydom Vineyards goal is to create wines that will evolve and improve for years to come.
