Description
Panamera's existence is thanks to Steve Rued, a talented winemaker from California. With Panamera Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon he has managed to capture the Californian style in affordable versions, so it is not surprising that the Panamera wines are among one of the most popular wines in the Netherlands and Belgium. Panamera is produced on the iconic Rutherford Ranch. This famous winery is located in perhaps the most beautiful wine region in California: Napa Valley. The favorable location of the vineyards in the Central Valley and Central Coast, where a climate with lots of sun and relatively high winds prevails, makes the grapes firm without losing their subtle freshness. The use of different barrels also gives the wines a lot of character.
The Panamera is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon - the grape that put California and especially Napa Valley on the map. The grapes grow in a warm climate where the summers can be very hot. As a result, Steve Rue planted the vineyard a little higher so that the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes get a little more cooling from the fresh wind. This naturally slows down the growth process, giving the Cabernet Sauvignon more time to grow. This way they can absorb more impressions from the rich soil structure, making this red wine NGO fuller. At ideal ripeness, Steve Rue ripens the grapes entirely by hand in the morning, each bunch is checked for imperfections. Only the best bunches are transported to Panamera, after which they are aged for up to eight months in partially new wooden barrels. This allows this Panamera Cabernet Sauvignon to build up its strength and, above all, its finesse.
The Panamera Cabernet Sauvignon is a full-bodied and very powerful wine. The scent has many notes of vanilla and ripe red fruit. We also noticed a little pepper in the scent. The taste of the Panamera Cabernet Sauvignon is astonishing. Full, ripe and powerful. Beautiful vanilla notes, alternating with full shades of red fruit and slightly spicy hints. In collaboration with a beautiful long but soft aftertaste. Excellent price/quality for a wine from California.

Wijnhuis
De Californische Steve Rued reisde de hele wereld over om zoveel mogelijk te leren over de kunst van het wijn maken. Zijn liefde voor Californië bracht hem echter terug naar zijn thuis. In 1993 ontmoette hij de Zuid-Afrikaanse Sonia, die op dat moment een seizoen vlakbij de wijngaarden van de Rued familie werkte. Steve en Sonia trouwden in 1996, waarna ze nog een aantal jaar hun eigen weg gingen. In 2000 brachten ze hun eerste vintage Rued Family wijn uit.
Sindsdien werkt het stel samen op de Rued Vineyards. Hier richten ze zich op het produceren van hun eigen Panamera wijnen, waarbij ze ernaar streven om het karakter van Californië zoveel mogelijk te benadrukken. De met de hand geoogste druiven zijn afkomstig van wijngaarden in Central Valley en Central Coast. Het fermentatieproces vindt plaats in roestvaststalen tanks, waar de Panamera onder gecontroleerde temperaturen een fruitig en mineraal karakter krijgt. De druiven worden langzaam geperst om de unieke aroma’s zoveel mogelijk te behouden. Vervolgens wordt de wijn nog zo’n zes tot acht maanden gerijpt in eikenhouten vaten. Het resultaat: drie krachtige premium wijnen.

Met zijn Panamera Chardonnay en Cabernet wijn heeft hij de typische Calfonië stijl in een betaalbare versies weten te vatten. Panamera wordt geproduceerd op de iconische Rutherford Ranch. Dit befaamde wijnhuis is gesitueerd in misschien wel het mooiste wijngebied van Californië: Napa Valley Dankzij de perfect gelegen wijngaarden ontwikkelen de druiven zich optimaal. Het klimaat, met veel zon en de nodige wind, zorgt ervoor dat de chardonnay druiven stevig zijn, maar met behoudt van een subtiele frisheid. Niet gek dat de Panamera wijnen behoren tot één van de meeste populaire wijnen in Nederland en België.
