Manna is a tribute to Franz's wife, Maria Luisa Manna. Franz took years to make this wine in his search for the best wine in the gastronomic field. He found this wine in an exceptional blend of the best Riesling, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Rich diverse scents of pistachio and rose and a taste that is complex and concentrated. A combination of soft ripe flavors and mineral structure.

The Manna 2022 is a blend of Riesling, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Kerner and Sauvignon Blanc. Only Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are fermented in oak. The bouquet of the wine is quite extensive and layered, and it is almost impossible to distinguish a single variety. Instead, the carefully integrated blend presents a lively bouquet with stone fruit, candied lemon and some spicy cumin seeds. There is also a clear floral component with honeysuckle and jasmine, and finally the wine delivers a nice mineral note. Because of its distinctive blend, this Manna has everything going for it. A fantastic glass of wine and drink it with chicken marinated in Moroccan spices. Delicious!!

Franz Haas has an incredible elevation change in its vineyards starting from 220 meters above sea level (where Lagrein is planted) to a whopping 1150 meters altitude (where Pinot Nero is planted). These are some of the highest vineyards in Alto Adige.

ABOUT FRANZ HAAS

The Franz Haas winery, founded in 1880, is located in the beautiful Alto-Adige region on the border of Austria and Italy. Since then, the company has been working for seven generations. The winery was always passed on to sons with the same name, Franz. In the 1980s, most of the vineyards were renovated, making room for new varieties that better suit the type of “terroir” of the region.

The grapes come from 55 hectares of vineyards. The vineyards start at an altitude of 220 meters, rising to 1,150 meters. There is a wide variety of microclimates and soils, from clay to limestone. The vineyards are among the highest vineyards in Alto Adige.

The choice to plant vines at these altitudes has proven that optimal and aromatic wines can be produced with good acidity. Large temperature differences between day and night and enormous attention to the vineyards have also helped with this.
