2022 Domaine Sylvain Langoureau Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly is a fine white wine from Domaine Sylvain Langoureau. Hailing from the high-altitude Premier Cru En Remilly, directly bordering the Grand Cru hill of Montrachet, this wine combines the richness of the Côte de Beaune with the lively tension and minerality for which Saint-Aubin has received so much appreciation in recent years. A Premier Cru that regularly stands up effortlessly to comparison with much more expensive Puligny-Montrachets.

Domaine Sylvain Langoureau

Domaine Sylvain Langoureau is a family estate in Saint-Aubin where multiple generations have cultivated the vineyards with great care. The estate owns plots on some of the appellation's finest Premier Cru terroirs and is known for a classic Burgundian style in which finesse, purity, and terroir expression take center stage. Low yields, manual harvesting, and careful aging in oak ensure wines with excellent aging potential.

Premier Cru and Remilly

And Remilly belongs to the absolute top of Saint-Aubin. The vineyard is situated on the famous Côte des Blancs, directly above the Grand Cru Montrachet and next to Chevalier-Montrachet. Thanks to this exceptional location, the vines benefit from an ideal exposure, many hours of sunshine, and calcareous soils that give Chardonnay an impressive tension and minerality.

Many Burgundy enthusiasts consider En Remilly one of the best Premier Crus of the Côte de Beaune. The style is closer to Puligny-Montrachet than to the richer style of Chassagne-Montrachet and is characterized by elegance, refinement, and a pronounced mineral signature.

Vineyard and vinification

The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and carefully selected. After gentle pressing, the must ferments in French oak barrels, after which the wine ages on the fine lees for approximately twelve months. Through a restrained use of new oak, the terroir remains fully recognizable, and the wine retains its fresh character and refined structure.

Scent, taste and character

The 2022 opens with refined aromas of citrus, white peach, ripe pear, and apple blossom. These are followed by subtle notes of acacia blossom, roasted hazelnuts, brioche, and a pronounced chalky minerality.

On the palate, the wine immediately reveals its origins. The ripe fruit is supported by lively acidity and an impressive mineral tension. The texture is rich and creamy without becoming heavy, while the calcareous soil provides a refined precision that gives the wine great length.

The finish is long, energetic, and refined, with notes of citrus, chalk, white flowers, and a subtle salinity that lingers for a long time.

Food and wine pairings

Preferably serve the wine at 11 to 12°C.

Excellent with lobster, scallops, turbot, sea bass, poultry with creamy sauces, veal, risotto with truffles, mushrooms, and aged cheeses such as Comté or Beaufort.
