Description
Château Gloria boasts a 50-hectare vineyard with deep "gravels" created by the sediments of the Gironde River. True St. Julien wine enthusiasts know this cru as one of the finest, unclassified wines from St. Julien. Thanks in part to its consistently high quality, this cru is now a member of the "Union des Grands Crus," with the added benefit of remaining affordable.
The Château Gloria is composed of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon , 35% Merlot , 9% Petit Verdot , and 6% Cabernet Franc , aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, 40% new and 60% one-year-old. In the glass, the wine has a deep garnet red color. The nose reveals fresh fruit, plums, cherries, dark chocolate with a hint of tobacco, bay leaves, and lavender. The palate is medium-bodied, elegant, and savory on the palate with many layers and a beautiful finish.
Saint-Julien is one of the most famous red wines from the Bordeaux region. The appellation comprises wines from the Saint-Julien-Beychevelle commune in the Médoc and covers an area of 3.5 to 4 km². It is located approximately 10 km north of Margaux on the Gironde estuary and borders Pauillac to the north.

RP (91-93)
A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 9% Petit Verdot, the 2022 Gloria bursts with aromas of cherries, sweet berries, petals and spices, framed by a deft touch of creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with a succulent, enveloping core of fruit and supple tannins, it's a gourmand but nicely balanced Saint-Julien that will offer a broad drinking window.

A linear and very fine wine with blackberry, blueberry and currant character. Hints of cedar and stone. Medium to full body. Linear and fine finish. Very well done.

The 2022 Gloria was picked from 12-26 September and matured in 40% new oak, slightly less than the Saint-Pierre. It has a perfumed, floral nose with crushed violet infusing the black cherry and blueberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with sumptuous tannins that belie the structure underneath. With pure fruit and well-judged acidity, this 2022 is sensual with a persistent and lightly spiced finish. Superb.

A gem in the vintage is going to be the 2022 Château Gloria, which comes from 50 hectares of vines and is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot. Harvested between September 14 and 26, with yields of 34 hectoliters per hectare, it offers an inky purple hue to go with medium to full-bodied aromas and flavors of crème de cassis, ripe black cherries, spicy oak, and graphite. Hitting 13.8% alcohol and aging in 60% new French oak, it's a pure, layered, elegant yet concentrated Saint-Julien that readers will love. Tasted twice.

Flowers, black cherries, plums, and chocolate hit all the right notes. The wine is medium-bodied, silky, elegant, soft, and polished, with layers of plums and cocoa from start to finish. 13.8% ABV.

Juicy and alive, energetic from the start, bright and vibrant with juicy, well-integrated tannins plumped up concentrated dark fruit giving the strength and richness. Broad and full with lots to offer, appealing and easy to enjoy with a sweet succulence at the end that lifts the whole palate and makes you want to try it again. Some salty, mineral touches on the finish too gives a nice lingering mineral flavour. Tasted twice. 6% Cabernet Franc completes the blend. A yield of 34hl/ha.

Intense with a bright plum colour, spicy, dark fruits, coffee bean and cocoa, this is almost heading towards overdone but it pulls back, leans into the vintatge and is very much on point with estate signature. It has texture and depth, a little overly concentrated through the mid palate but shows the restraint that comes with the pummic stone texture of St Julien tannins. One to watch over ageing. In biodynamic conversion.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Gloria starts off with a quiet intensity of kirsch and fragrant soil scents, leading to a core of warm cassis, black raspberries, and Indian spices plus a hint of sandalwood. The medium to full-bodied palate is laden with black and red berry flavors, supported by plush tannins and a lively backbone, finishing with an invigorating lift.

Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Orangenzesten, reife Herzkirschen, etwas Cassis, feine Kräuterwürze ist unterlegt. Gute Komplexität, rote Kirschen, frisch strukturiert, mineralisch-salzig, zarter Schokoladetouch im Abgang.
Jancis Robinson
17/20 punten
Dark and spicy with a generous amount of gourmand fruit. Freshness for balance and fine but firm tannins providing persistence. Smooth texture. As is often the case, punches above its weight.
