Description

In the beautiful Constantia area, owner Lars Maack, together with winemaker Brad Paton, only produces wines in the top segment: fresh and full wines. The slowly ripening climatic conditions with cold nights and modest daytime temperatures translate into fresh, crisp and full-bodied wines.

The Buitenverwachting Chardonnay is a rich Chardonnay with notes of citrus fruits combined with notes of the well-known butter, vanilla, minerals (flint) and toast. In the mouth the wine is full bodied with the fruit being nicely balanced with the wood of the bearing. The mineral undertones and a good balance and good acidity make this a handsome, sturdy chardonna with a wonderfully persistent aftertaste. The demand for this highly sought-after wine always exceeds supply and it is available in very limited quantities.

A delicious glass to enjoy and perfect with roast pork, rich fish (salmon, tuna), vegetarian dishes such as a hearty salad and poultry.

Wijnhuis

The history of the South African winery Buitenverwachting goes back to 1773. Wijnhuis Buitenverwachting introduced the concept of environmentally friendly agriculture, which is better for the land, the worker and less pollution. From 1773, this winery has had no fewer than 16 owners, some of whom have faced many debts.

Despite this history, the winery flourished in 1825, led by Ryk Arnoldus Cloete, brother of the famous Henry of Constantia. In 1981, when the winery was owned by the Mueller family, the vineyards were explored, which led to extensive replanting of the various vineyards. This led to the largest harvest ever for Buitenverwachting in 1985. The winery has since undergone many modernizations, including a completely renovated winery.
