Borsao is the benchmark for premium Spanish Garnacha. People have certainly been the pioneers of this variety with the firm belief that the Garnacha is particularly suitable for the Aragon region. Garnacha is experiencing a huge revival worldwide thanks to its fruit-driven character, soft tannins and pleasant mouthfeel, making it a perfect match for a wide variety of meals.

Garnacha originated in Aragón, where Borja is located, and it owes its development throughout Europe to the power of the Kingdom of Aragon, whose expansion made Garnacha well-established in the Rhône Valley in the 19th century, Italy and Sardinia. Garnacha is the most widely planted red variety in the world. Other names for Garnacha; Alicante, Aragonés, Cannonau, Garnaccho Negro, Garnacha Negra, Garnacha Roja, Garnacha Tinta, Grenache, Tintilla, Toledana, Uva di Spagna.

The little brother of the Tres Picos and the high Moncayo's and Veraton is the Borsao Clásico Garnacha. As suspected, it is mainly a Grenache-driven wine, but it also contains Tempranillo and a bit of Cabernet Sauvignon for the backbone.

The grapes come from vineyards that are around 15 years old, located on calcareous soils. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel at a temperature between 22º C and 25º C to retain all the aromas of the Garnacha and then the wine is allowed to mature further on INOX to keep the wine smooth and round. Each variety is vinified separately and is bark blended in the desired proportion by the Borsao wine master just before bottling. The Borsao Classico Tinto Garnacha has a ruby red color with a dark purple tint. Intense bouquet of ripe fruit with a base of floral notes. The broad, balanced taste with aromas of ripe red fruit and spices provide a velvety wine with elegant tannins. GRwoon a wonderfully smooth and fruity wine with an excellent price/quality ratio

The Bodega Borsao was founded in 2001 and is located on the Campo de Borja vineyards. This Bodega is responsible for the spectacular progress of this area. The vineyard is in Moncayo and lies at an altitude of 400 to 700 meters, where the queen of the grape is planted: the Garnacha or Grenache which is able to survive perfectly in the harsh weather conditions of the area. The Tres Picos and Tres Lagunas are made from 100% Garnacha grapes that are harvested from very old vines. The vineyards are fairly cool at about 650 meters above sea level in Campo de Borja, south of the Rioja. Partly because of this, the grapes ripen slowly and gradually. An important condition for the production of complex and high quality wines. After fermentation, a short maturation follows on small oak casks. In taste, the wines are certainly the equal of a complex Châteuneuf-du-Pape, which is also mainly made from Grenache grapes. They easily win in price! The well-known American wine writer Robert Parker invariably scores 90 points or more. The Tres Picos is an internationally renowned wine. The Tres Lagunas is only imported by us to the Netherlands and is absolutely unique in terms of price / quality.
