The Language of Yes Grenache from the Rancho Réal Vineyard 2021 is a crisp and fresh grenache with the character of strawberry, crushed stone and hibiscus and orange peel. It is medium-bodied with fine tannins. Rich but light at the same time. Structured on the palate and gives depth to the flavors of baked cherries, light toast and hints of minerality.

About Santa Maria Valley

South of the city of Santa Barbara lies the Santa Maria Valley, the southern Californian equivalent to Burgundian Côte d'Or. Don't expect sunny beaches and palm trees here like you would see in Santa Barbara. Strong sea breezes, fueled by a unique transverse (east-to-west) landscape, rivers flowing into the Pacific Ocean and low-lying fog that lasts until noon keep things on the cool side here. The colder temperatures are perfect for growing cold climate varieties, which in turn will retain their full fruit character and freshness.

Compared to the archetypal Californian Pinot Noir country Sonoma, the region's longer growing season gives the fruit time to develop greater maturity and finer aromas, which are enhanced by light aging in oak barrels. Pinot Noir, Grenache and Syrah are the central varieties for red wines, which are produced in a very Californian style, similar to red wines from Burgundy or Northern Rhône. Chardonnay, meanwhile, leads the white wine charts. The intense and deep fruitiness is what determines the character of the region.
