Environmentally integrated agricultural cultivation, the practice of viticulture with respect for the environment, according to the biorhythm of the plant. Biological fertilization every 2 years.

The grapes are of course hand-picked and are not mechanically destemmed, but each grape is assessed by hand with a very strict selection and also destemmed by hand. Cold pre-fermentative maceration at 8 ° C for 5 days. Fermented in French oak barrels at 28oC with native yeast selected from our own vineyards. The maceration on the skin lasts no less than 23 days.
The wine matures quietly for 18 months in new French (95%) and Central European (5%) Bordelaise oak barrels.

This perfectly technical wine from the beautiful Sierra Cantabria winery, from the Eguren family, has a beautiful structure and a perfect balance of power and elegance. It has a fresh fruity start with semi-full to full black fruit such as blackberries with a beautiful but not overpowering oak support with beautiful velvet Spanish tannins and a super long aftertaste of vanilla and black fruit. The full flavor is juicy with firm tannins and perfectly integrated acidity . The beauty of the Sierra Cantabria El Bosque is its incredible freshness. The wine is complex, fresh and young at the same time, as if you were tasting fresh young tempranillo grapes. Sort of a Bodybuilder under a silk robe. This version is a 0.375 liter bottle - great for 3 very nice glasses of this winner.

RIOJA 2021

The end of autumn and the beginning of winter are marked by abundant rainfall in San Vicente and Páganos. Early 2021 with low temperatures and a lot of precipitation (including snow) (Filomena), resulting in a very important accumulation of water in the soil causing good compaction and nitrification of the soil, very beneficial for the vines. Early March is dry and with mild temperatures, causing the vines to weep for the first time. Beginning of bud break in early April, with slightly cool temperatures and little vegetative development. Light frost on April 14 and 17 caused minor and variable damage depending on the vineyard plots. Rainfall in April was lower than the usual average. Early May was dry and temperatures were very mild, below normal. At the beginning of spring (early June), flowering took place around June 12. This is a period of rainfall that causes light flower sprouts, giving the impression that it will be a short harvest. In mid-June there were a few hailstorms that did not cause major damage, but did limit the harvest. Two months of total absence of rain began: July and August. From July to September, temperatures exceeded average, reaching 38ºC.
From September 14 to 18, rain falls in varying amounts, creating alarming uncertainty about health and final ripening period. These September rains increase berry and bunch size, and followed by low temperatures and sunny weather will cause a rapid end to ripening and eliminating the risk of botrytis, which balances physiological, phenolic and aromatic ripening. The harvest of the white varieties begins on October 1-2 and the red on October 5, yielding grapes with a total acidity slightly higher than in a normal year and a spectacular phenolic ripening.

Vineyard for 2021 Sierra Cantabria Finca el Bosque 0.375 ltr

The Spanish winery Sierra Cantabria was founded in 1957 by Guillermo Eguren and is one of Hermanos Eguren's beautiful wineries. Sierra Cantabria is located in the Rioja in a unique location between the River Ebro and the Sierra Cantabria mountain range. The Sierra Cantabria Mountains (1200m.) And the River Ebro (350m.) Provide a special microclimate with Mediterranean and continental features - mild winters and mild summers, unique to wine growing.
On the other hand, the thermal summer jump (intense heat during the day with fresh night temperatures) increases the polyphenol content, which makes for excellent quality wines with a distinctive character.

The vineyards of Bodega Sierra Cantabria are mainly located in the towns of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Labastida and Laguardia, an area very well known for wine growing.
The Tempranillo variety predominates, along with small amounts of Garnacha, Viura and 'Hairy Tempranillo', all of which are grown in vineyards about 35 years old, although there are also plots up to 70 years old.The harvest is carried out by hand every year, paying special attention to the rigorous selection of the grapes that are the soul of the wine, in optimal condition and in perfect ripening conditions. The careful harvest is followed by a thorough separation of the bunches, which is done on a selection table at the entrance of the winery. Winemaking is aimed at minimal intervention in the winery to fully respect the character of the terroir
