Description
In the 1960s, Giuseppe Inama, the founder of this renowned wine estate, started buying small plots of vineyards in the heart of 'Soave Classico'. The area was originally planted with the old "Graecanicum" (native to Greece) variety. This name was subsequently converted to "Garganega" in the local dialect. His idea was to collect only top quality vineyards from old vine Garganega, and from them make a wine capable of restoring Soave's reputation. Today Inama counts as a reference for both white and red wines in Soave.
Colli Berici Più 'means 'more' in Italian and there is more' than just Carmenere in this typical blend of the Colli Berici, a line of gently rolling volcanic hills in northeastern Italy. The iron-rich clay soil on a limestone subsoil is perfect for Bordeaux varieties and Carmenere. This is also the reason why it is an IGT Veneto Rosso because due to the Merlot addition it no longer meets the regulations of the DOC Colli Berici
This Inama Piu is a blend of Carmenère 85% and Merlot 15% coming from a south-oriented vineyard located in Lonigo and San Germano dei Berici (VI) at an altitude of 50-250 m above sea level. The grapes are picked by hand and then destemmed. After 12 days of maceration in upright stainless steel fermenters, the wine is aged for 12 months in 2nd year 225l French oak barriques.
In the glass, the Carmenere Più is a vibrant ruby red with a purple edge in the glass. The wine has a pronounced nose with black cherry, soy, cocoa, violets and some lava stone. In the mouth the wine is elegant with fresh acidity, firm, integrated tannins and very good length. A perfect wine with salami (sopressa, sopressa with garlic) and Val Liona DOP ham and grilled pork.

INAMA CARMENERE VENETO PIÙ 2021
Score
92
This is a quintessential trattoria or bistro wine, as you may. Peppery, refined, lifted and dangerously easy to drink. Mid-weighted, but lighter of feel. Peppery salumi, mint, sage and tarragon, not too far away from a cool climate syrah, or mondeuse. Distinctly alpine of feel. Fresh, effusive of energy and dangerous. I love this wine! An everyday wine drinker's wine. Drink now.

From: Veneto: A Constant State of Evolution (Feb 2024)
Peppery wild berries, roses and hints of wet stone waft up to form an inviting bouquet as the 2021 Carmenere Più evolves in the glass. This is silky and pliant with juicy acidity and tart raspberry fruits. Rosy inner florals amass toward the close. Crisply refreshing, the 2021 tapers off with medium length and hints of tart blackberry that curl the tongue. This is a total pleasure to taste and a remarkable value.

Wine house Inama is located near the northern Italian city of Verona. The Inama family has been producing wines for more than 40 years and is the only activity that focuses entirely on them. Wijnhuis Inama is now run by Stefano and Guiseppe Inama, the 3rd generation, with the vision: producing various wines in which, despite the styles and trends of the moment, they mainly want to make wines where their vision of the beautiful country is sufficiently represented. . Therefore, an organic agricultural system is used because it produces better fruit. Wijnhuis Inama follows its own course and has therefore developed its own know-how, without consulting all kinds of experts and wine gurus. They believe in wine that generates emotions and therefore prefer to taste "blind".
