2021 Francis Ford Coppola Sauvignon Blanc Diamond collection
The Sauvignon Blanc provides this special wine, with a seductively open scent, melon, lemon zest, a touch of green figs, passion fruit. Wonderfully open and fresh in taste, peach, figs, grapefruit, delicious white fruit, pear, lots of power, nice juice, intense and well balanced, mild aftertaste. The ideal serving temperature is 8-10°C.
Surprisingly, the fruit of the Sauvignon Blanc from the Diamond Series comes partly from Napa Valley, a rather warm wine region. But sauvignon from this region can be very good if harvested in time. In addition, the grapes come from two other regions. Sauvignon from Alexander Valley adds power and intensity, coupled with a nice citrus character. Grapes from Mendocino provide richness and aromatic power. An ideal combination. It is a Sauvignon in a beautiful, powerful style, with delicious exotic fruit. Due to the ripe character of the grapes, the grassy character that so easily predominates in many Sauvignons is missing. Low temperature fermentation, exclusively on stainless steel, further contributes to the fruit character of the wine, which has a lot of freshness in the taste, with a wonderfully dry and aromatic character.
Francis Ford Coppola (Detroit, April 7, 1939) is an American director, film producer and screenwriter known for The Godfather trilogy and Apocalypse Now, among others, and is considered one of Hollywood's most important directors. In addition, Francis Ford Coppola has been active in viticulture and trade since the 1970s. In 1975, he and his wife purchased the estate of Finnish sea captain Gustave Niebaum in Rutherford, California (located in the famous Napa Valley wine region) and surrounding vineyards. That winery is now called the Rubicon Estate Winery. Coppola also owns the Francis Ford Coppola Winery in the Sonoma Valley.
Winemaking has been a tradition for many years within the Coppola family. In fact, Francis Ford Coppola has been making wine longer than he has been directing films. Grandfather Coppola used to make wine in the cellars of their New York apartment from grapes that had come over specially from California. The wines Coppola makes today are not the same as those from the cellars in New York, but they are made with the same philosophy. Wines to drink with friends and family.
The parent company of the Francis Ford Coppola Winery was named USA Wine Producer of the Year on November 16, 2011 by the International Wine & Spirit Competition.
