Description
The generosity of Crozes-Hermitage is well known to lovers of the Rhône Cru wines based on the noble Syrah grape. The Crozes-Hermitage is located in the Northern Rhône appellation which offers the greatest wealth of expression. In terms of surface area and number of winemakers, it is the primary vineyard area of Cave de Tain (16 times larger than the Hermitage vineyard), where we find two types of soils: granite and galets (small surface stones) in infinite combinations:
- pebbly and filtering soils of the Rhône or the Isère in the south
- predominantly granite soils in a fresher climate in the north
Crozes-Hermitage extends around the hill of the Hermitage and Cave de Tain has the most beautiful vineyards there. The Crozes-Hermitage has been classified as AOC for red and white wines since 1937. Important rules are that the alcohol percentage must be at least 10% and the yield may yield a maximum of 45 hectoliters per hectare. The red wine must consist of at least 85% of the Syrah grape and a maximum of 15% Marsanne and Roussanne. The white wine must be composed of Marsanne and Roussanne.
The Cave de Tain Nobles Rives Crozes-Hermitage rouge is a subtle Crozes Hermitage with an intense ruby red color and some purple hues. With aromas of both red (raspberries, plums) and black (blackberries) fruit, some pepper, balsamic vinegar and supple leather. Nicely balanced with the beautiful acids. A very drinkable wine with soft tannins. The wine is subtle and drinkable and therefore delicious on its own. That does not mean that this Syrah does not look great on the dining table. Serve it with grilled red meat (T-bone steak, entrecôte), game dishes or venison steak.

In the northern Rhône, they are leading with a share of more than 50% of the production. The vineyards are located on both the right bank, St.-Joseph, Cornas and St.-Peray, and on the left bank, Crozes Hermitage and Hermitage, of the Rhône and are located a maximum of 20 kilometers from the Cave. For many international winemakers, the wines produced here are the reference for their Syrah production. The crown jewels of the company are its own vineyards on the Hermitage mountain. The steep terraced vineyards with a granite soil bring out the best in the Syrah grape. International assessments between 90 and 100 points are "normal" for these wines. On the left bank of the Rhône, between Lyon and Valence, the Hermitage hill dominates the Crozes-Hermitage appellation. From north to south, the vineyards of Saint-Joseph, Cornas and Saint-Péray spread out on terraces, on the right bank.
On their five cru vineyards, such as in Collines Rhodaniennes, the winegrowers of the Cave de Tain l'Hermitage offer an unparalleled variety of vineyard plantations, with access to all terroirs.
