Description
The Tuscan winery founded in 2000 by the charismatic Bibi Graetz has achieved cult status over the past twenty years. The winery has many enthusiasts with its idiosyncratic wines and artistic labels. This also includes the international wine press, which now annually awards the top wines Colore and Testamatta very high marks.
The Ansonica grapes come from the island of Isola del Giglio, located off the Tuscan coast. The soils here are poor and contain a lot of granite. The sea breeze significantly influences the climate. The grape has different names, namely Inzolia - Insolia - Ansonica The Inzolia grape is an authentic grape from the island of Sicily. It is one of the oldest Sicilian vines. Around 1600, the grape was also transferred to the Tuscan islands of Elba and Giglio. Here the grape was also planted for the production of white wines. In these regions, the grapes are more commonly known as Ansonica. The grapes are destemmed and then gently pressed (with dry ice). The juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks at a very low temperature to preserve freshness. After blending, the wine continues to mature in stainless steel tanks.
In the glass, the Bibi Graetz Scopeto Bianco has a pale yellow color with white blossom and fennel in the nose. With some waltzes we also smell pear, lime and a light saltiness. This blissful Tuscan white wine is hearty and refreshing with mineral notes. Delicious with tagliatelle with cream and shrimps.

This wine will not be imported into the United States until 2019. The 2017 Scopeto Isola del Giglio is a blend of 70% Ansonica and 30% Vermentino (vinified in stainless steel). Only 2,000 bottles were made. The bouquet opens to an intense and compelling succession of floral and yellow fruit aromas that span from honeysuckle and rose to peach, passion fruit and cantaloupe melon. Of course, you also get those salty or briny notes that come so naturally to wines made from sea-facing vineyards on the island of Giglio. The wine finishes on a dry and decisive note that keeps the palate refreshed.
