This wine is a still wine, the taste is nice and firm, predominantly cherry and has a slight complexity. The fragrance consists mainly of cherries and raspberries, currants and raisins, ripened and apricot kernels. Medium-bodied for very refined. Unlike many Ripasso's, this is a real serious wine with a good balance between the acid and the sweet.
Tedeschi Ripasso Capitel San Rocco is the dry red wine based on dried grapes from the Valpolicella region. Ripasso is a traditional method in which during the 2nd fermentation the must is brought into contact with the warm dried grape skins from which the Amarone wines are pressed. The result is a special dry red wine, full and powerful.
The Tedeschi family has been supplying wines of undisputed top quality for years. Not only the wines from dried grapes, but also the 'ordinary' Valpolicellas can count as specialties of the great family business. Partly due to a maturation of about eight to ten months in French oak, an unrecognizably powerful Valpolicella is created. The Tedeschi winery makes a wide variety of wines. In addition to red wines, white wines are also made from grapes from neighboring regions such as Soave and Bianco die Custoza. Some of the grapes are purchased from other producers. But of course the best wines come from their own vineyards in the heart of the region, the Valpolicella Classico.
Tedeschi is one of the undisputed highlights of the Valpolicella. Not only the wines from dried grapes, but also the 'normal' Valpolicellas may count as specialties of the family business Tedeschi. Father Renzo has now handed things over to his son Riccardo, who is now putting the finishing touches. This newly new generation gives the company some extra impulses, for example with a surprising new Valpolicella. Partly due to the maturation of eight or ten months in French oak, Riccardo creates an unrecognizable powerful Valpolicella, something completely different from the light wine we are used to. This wine comes from Fabriseria's own vineyard, from which a fantastic Amarone is harvested in peak years.
Tedeschi makes a wide range of wines, not only red, but also white from grapes from neighboring regions such as Soave and Bianco die Custoza. Some of the grapes are purchased from other producers. In that case, Tedeschi exercises intensive supervision during the growing season on the state of affairs in the vineyard. The best wines come from our own vineyards from the heart of the region, the Valpolicella Classico. With a few other producers, Tedeschi is committed to stricter rules for Valpolicella, Amarone and Recioto. It is rightly believed here that wines based on too high yields, originating from the fertile Po area, are actually unworthy of the DOC Valpolicella. And these wines certainly do not match the perfectionism of special Valpolicella producers such as Fratelli Tedeschi.
