Description
The Pinot Noir for the Staete Landt State Of Grace Marlborough Pinot Noir come from no less than twelve plots, each with its own flavor component, are the basis of this wine acclaimed by the international wine press. The exuberant nose of this pinot noir immediately seduces you. Blackberries, cherries and violets rise from the glass. Juicy forest fruit in combination with a spicy bite make this wine unique. The State of Grace has a good structure and a sublime, clean finish. Delicious!
Staete Lands Vineyard s
The Dutchman Ruud Maasdam emigrated to New Zealand in 1996 to start his own wine estate. After extensive research, each plot was laid out with a particular wine style in mind. For years now, this has resulted in very individual, characteristic wines of an exceptionally high level of quality that have certainly not gone unnoticed by the international wine press.
Marlborough
Marlborough, located at the northernmost tip of the South Island, is home to at least half of New Zealand's vineyards. The region is in the spotlight in the international wine world. That is quite an achievement if you consider that no professional viticulture took place here until 1973. The first bottles of Sauvignon Blanc only appeared on the market around 1980; they were immediately well received. The Australians David Hohnen and Kevin Judd saw so much potential in the wine region that they started the Cloudy Bay domain there and dared to market their wines in a big way. In 2007 Marlborough had over 11,000 hectares of wine country and the number of winemakers in the area grew to more than 100. However, they have never mass-produced. Quality over quantity; this makes the wines expensive, but customers are happy to pay for them. It's a combination of factors that make the area so interesting: Marlborough has long days, cool nights, bright sunshine and a mild, dry autumn. In this climate, the wines get the characteristic 'Kiwi style': lots of sugars, but very refreshing (thanks to) the high acidity. Of course, the alluvial soil (fertile due to the river silt) full of clay also plays a role in the creation of this ideal terroir. The most commonly used grape varieties are sauvignon blanc and chardonnay, but beautiful wines are also made from riesling and pinot gris. The pinot noir seems to be Marlborough's great promise; it thrives wonderfully in the climate so similar to that of Burgundy.

The Dutchman Ruud Maasdam emigrated to New Zealand in 1996 to start his own wine estate. After extensive research, each plot was laid out with a particular wine style in mind.
For years now, this has produced very individual, characteristic wines of an exceptionally high quality level that have certainly not escaped the international wine press. The American wine magazine Wine Spectator recently ranked its Sauvignon among New Zealand's top ten! Sauvignon is still best known here, but the planting of Pinot Noir is increasing strongly and grapes such as Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Gris are also doing remarkably well here. Staete Landt is a respected man in New Zealand with winemaker Ruud Maasdam.
