Description
For Chardonnay it makes little difference where it is planted. With careful care, this grape can always produce special wines. In the warm climate of Tuscany this is always a wine with a special strength and depth, a mighty glass of white. In recent years there has been a trend towards lighter Chardonnay wines in an uncomplicated style, but that is not the type of Chardonnay that Castello Banfi likes. It is believed here that a Tuscan Chardonnay should be powerful and deep. The grapes are therefore harvested when ripe and the wine ferments and matures in French oak barrels, giving it a special complexity and breadth.
Color: Pale yellow.
Smell: Powerful scent, beautiful wood, toasted and roasted, but the fruit is not forgotten, citrus, floral, open, beautifully complex.
Taste: Open taste, a good glass of wine, very typical, beautiful modern style chardonnay, juicy, freshness, peach, not too strict with a hint of sweet and sour. Attractive nuances of new wood add complexity without overpowering. Drink now or save.

Castello Banfi belongs to the Italian world top and comes from Tuscany. In fact, Banfi's success story begins as early as 1919. In that year John F. Mariani, an American with Italian blood, starts his wine business Banfi Vintners in New York. More than 50 years later, his sons, John and Harry, venture to Tuscany and start one of the most spectacular adventures in Italian wine history. With American bravura and entrepreneurial spirit, they bought the medieval castle Poggio alle Mura near the town of Montalcino and brought the old vineyards back to life. In the mid-1970s, Ezio Rivella, one of Italy's best oenologists, joined the team. The 'Banfi' project paid off sooner than expected. Castello Banfi (as the company has been officially called since 1984) managed to create the ideal conditions for the different grape varieties in many places.
