The three men in the tub are Kevin, Jacques and Raymond, and as they say, " what goes on in the tub stays in the tub. " - And the duck doesn't quack!

The old world meets the new world in this trio of classic varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon (61%), Merlot (25%) and Shiraz (14%) from various vineyards in the Western Cape. All plots are treated separately to capture their unique personalities and then blended together to create this playful blend called Three Men in a Tub with a Rubber Duck.

Tasting Note: This is a fruit driven wine that is rich and peppery on the nose. The palate is beautifully balanced with sweet cherry, plum, pepper and licorice. Long-term wood aging adds to the structure and softens the tannins, the aftertaste is long with a spicy note.

All grapes are picked by hand and cooled overnight after harvest. After destemming, the grape must is macerated for 3-4 days before spontaneous fermentation begins. To extract color, flavor and tannins from the grape skins, the grapes are manually immersed 2-3 times a day. After pressing, the wine is immediately transferred to barrels for malolactic fermentation and maturation. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for another 16 months. Only then is the final blend created, with a further 3 months of maturation before bottling.

Franschhoek is a broad vineyard-lined valley in the Western Cape, shielded from oceanic influences by the southern mountain range. These mountains also trap cooling southerly winds, extending the growing season. Grapes have been planted here since the late 1600s, when exiled the French Huguenots brought their viticulture to South Africa and settled in this area. Franschhoek, meaning "French corner" in Dutch, retains a strong French influence today, evident in its architecture and vineyard names. The hot climate in Franschhoek produces full-bodied, complex reds and rich, fruit-driven whites, and the region is also famous for its elite Cap Classique production. Culturally, Franschhoek is renowned for its hospitality, music, and variety of festivals.
