Description
The Late Bottled Vintage is a type of port that has boomed in recent decades. This is a special port from a single, high-quality vintage, which, according to regulations, is aged between three years and nine months to five years and nine months in wooden barrels. During that period the wine can retain its fruit, but also ripen enough to make it suitable for drinking straight away. It is a port in the style of a Vintage Port, but suitable for drinking straight away. Portal prefers a young style, so he will prefer to keep the maturing time of this wine on the short side. Moreover, it is not filtered during bottling. That is why it is even recommended to let it ripen for some time, to allow it to develop additional complexity.
In the glass, the Portal Late Bottled Vintage Port is deep dark purple with a full, intense spicy scent on the nose with ripe black fruit such as blackberries and a hint of raisins, and some cocoa. The Late Bottled Vintage Port is highly recommended with mature cheeses, blue cheese, black cherry pie and desserts with chocolate.

Quinta do Portal is a family business, currently the fifth generation of the Mansilha family producing wines in the Pinhão River valley. The Quinta do Portal estate contains 104 hectares of vineyards with altitudes ranging from 190 to 600 meters and therefore has different sun exposure, which ensures that they can supply a diversity of quality grapes to create beautiful wines.
