2018 Benjamín Romeo Colección Nº 1 Parcela La Liende

Contador is one of the crown jewels of Rioja, blessed by the legendary 100 points of guru Robert Parker Jr.'s tasting team, over two consecutive vintages: 2004 and 2005 and thereafter only wines between 95-100 points. It is the work of Benjamin Romeo, who has managed to realize the potential of Rioja. to show when you produce in very short runs with only focus on the very best.

The Benjamín Romeo Colección Nº 1 Parcela La Liende was formerly known as La Viña de Andrés Romeo (Romeo's father) has been renamed from vintage 2016 to reflect the vineyard's name but is the same Tempranillo vineyard used from the very first vintage 40 planted years ago on poor alluvial soils. The Colección Nº 1 Parcela La Liende is creamy and voluptuous, expressive, open and showy. In his youth he still has unpolished tannins due to his 18 months of aging in new French oak barriques, but give this a few years and they will melt wonderfully.

This unique old vineyard always produces a perfect full, creamy, juicy wine almost regardless of the year. Only around 2,500 bottles are/can always be made and is a collector's item.
