Termes is the first expression of Bodega Numanthia's characteristic Toro terroir. The wine is named after the village of Tiermes, which, like Numancia, resisted the Roman occupation. Termes is a stylish, vibrant wine made from the Tinta de Toro grape, sourced from 30-year-old vines. The extreme weather conditions in the Toro region—only 350 to 400mm of rainfall per year, scorching summers, and bitingly cold winters—produce grapes of exceptional quality. After a lengthy fermentation with the skins, the wine is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels. The result is a powerful, harmonious wine that still retains a lovely, vibrant freshness and full fruit.

The Termes was released with 12 months of bottle aging. In the glass, the wine is cherry red with purple highlights. The nose offers complex and persistent notes of red fruit, raspberry, and red currant, with fresh aromatic herbs like thyme and eucalyptus. On the palate, the Termes de Numathia is a lively wine with a surprisingly fresh and fruity attack followed by a full body. The wine has beautifully integrated, rounded tannins with an intense finish, resulting in a very elegant and balanced wine.

The Numanthia vineyards are located next to the small village of Valdifinjas in the province of Zamora. The vineyard was founded in 1998 by the Eguren family from the Rioja region. From the beginning, Marcos and Miguel Eguren's goal was to produce the best wines from the Toro region. The company was later bought by the French luxury products giant LVMH.This region is located in the south-east of the province of Zamora and covers 62,000 hectares. Toro wines are made exclusively from one grape variety: The Tinta de Toro. Bodegas Numanthia harvests very selectively, resulting in one of the lowest yields in the world, namely 2000 to 3000 kg. per hectare.
