Description
The owner of Sedella Vinos is Lauren Rosillo. With years of experience in winemaking and oenology in the role of technical director for various Spanish premium wines in other regions (including Rioja, Rueda, La Mancha, and Guipúzcoa), Lauren felt itchy to start her own project. The result is Sedella Vinos.
The top of the range is the Sedella which is produced with the fruit of a single vineyard, planted in 1940 which is a vineyard with local grapes, usually Romé with some Garnacha on slate slopes. All grapes are hand-picked and fermented together with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, followed by used barriques and egg-shaped cement vessels for malolactic and further maturation for 12 to 14 months. The Sedella Tinto is a full bodied wine but extremely elegant with the mineral tones that come through the slate terroir makes the wine very attractive. The notes of meditarene herbs such as thyme, rosemary and lavender are also evident. The taste is very tasty, with fine-grained tannins and a good freshness. 2,997 bottles have been filled, so this is another gem

The top of the range 2014 Sedella was the first wine produced in the project, with the fruit from a single-vineyard planted in 1940 with a field blend of local grapes, mostly Romé, with some Garnacha, Jaén, Montua and Moscatel Romano on slate slopes. All grapes are picked and fermented together with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel followed by used barriques and egg-shaped cement vats for malolactic and an élevage of 12 to 14 months without racking. I always find a note of fresh meat, blood and iron common to many wines from grapes grown on slate soils. It also has lots of Mediterranean herb aromas of thyme, rosemary and lavender. The palate is very tasty, with fine-grained tannins and good freshness. I need to find those bottles from 2008 lying in my cellar... 2,997 bottles were filled in December 2015.
This time I have included some table wines from Andalucía with the rest of Central Spain (even if they really are Southern Spain), like the ones produced by Lauren Rosillo, Martínez Bujanda's winemaker in a solo project in the Málaga Mountains.

The driving force behind Sedella Vinos is Lauren Rosillo. With years of experience in viticulture and oenology in the role of technical director for several Spanish premium wines in other regions (including Rioja, Rueda, La Mancha, and Guipúzcoa), Lauren felt itchy to start her own project. The result is Sedella Vinos.
The vineyards themselves consist of old vines rooted in steep slate slopes. The wine derives its personality from the combination of the climate, the soil and the plant. The height of the terrain, the geographical location (near the sea and the surrounding nature parks) and the reuse of old Romé and Grenache varieties ensure individuality and character. With their years of experience, Antonio and Rafael are now adept at cultivating this traditional wine, which is often a feat by using old techniques (such as draft animals and Roman plows) on a site with an incline of up to 45%. Sedella Vinos is a winery that combines a setting with contemporary design and natural beauty, with innovative artisanal production processes and carefully chosen old vines. Every bottle of Sedella Vinos contains more than wine. You will also taste the passion, the work and the love for the profession. All this becomes very clear when you talk to Lauren Rosillo, the driving force behind the project and wine expert and lover in heart and soul.
