Tornatore Etna Bianco

The Tornatore Etna Bianco is a beautiful, mineral white Etna with a good price-quality ratio. Made from the Sicilian Etna grape, Carricante, which is known for its beautiful acidity. The wine has not been exposed to wood and has matured on its own yeasts (sur lie). The wine has a golden-yellow color with green reflections. The expressive nose reveals notes of grapefruit, white peach, and spices. The taste is rich, with a pleasant mineral tone, resulting in exuberant freshness!

The Tornatore wine estate

The Tornatore wine estate was founded by Francesco Tornatore, who was originally active in telecommunications. In the 21st century, he established an impressive wine estate in Castiglione di Sicilia, situated on the north side of Mount Etna, on volcanic soil. However, the family history dates back to 1865, when Francesco's great-grandfather was already planting vineyards. This rich history of more than 150 years is combined with modern viticulture techniques.

High-altitude vineyards and indigenous grapes

The Tornatore vineyards are situated at an altitude between 600 and 1,000 meters, which ensures remarkable freshness and elegance in the wines. This location lends the red wines a Burgundy-like finesse, despite the warm climate of Sicily. The estate works exclusively with indigenous grape varieties: Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio for red wines, and Carricante for white wines. All grapes are hand-picked, which contributes to the high quality of the wine.

Vinification and aging

In the wine cellar, great attention is paid to preserving the terroir. The wines are fermented in modern concrete vats and aged in large oak barrels, meaning there is little oak influence on the taste of the wine. This results in very precise, elegant, fresh, and easy-drinking wines that are also affordable by Etna standards. The Tornatore Etna Rosso has quickly gained recognition, with, for example, three glasses from Gambero Rosso and up to 95 points from James Suckling.
