This winery has very special neighbors and is located between Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Lafite Rothschild and Château Pontet Canet. In 1972 wine merchant Mestrezat took care of this somewhat drowsy Château. Substantial investments followed in both cellars and vineyards. In 1992 the mechanical harvest was completely abolished. Strict hand selection followed. The percentage of new oak casks was increased in the completely new cellar. The total area is now 45 ha with plots adjacent to Château Batailley and Lafite- and Mouton Rothschild. Major steps have been taken since the takeover, resulting in a worthy 5th Grand Cru ranking and the volumes in the peak years are particularly interesting from a price point of view.
