Sylvaner
Sylvaner
Sylvaner is a white grape variety that is grown in several European countries. It is an ancient variety that was initially popular among winegrowers due to its early ripening and good yields. Sylvaner has a strong ability to express the terroir, something that can also often be detrimental. In other words, the grape places high demands on the soil to be able to make a good wine. In Germany, the Sylvaner displaces the Riesling in the Franconia region, where the wine is bottled in the striking Bocksbeutel. There, the soils of lime and clay are ideal to give the Sylvaner its slenderness, neutrality and subtle soil expression.
