Rubin

The Rubin grape is an authentic Bulgarian grape variety. It was created by crossing Syrah and Nebbiolo. The crossing took place in 1944, but it was not until 1961 that the new grape variety was internationally recognized. The Rubin grape is only grown in fairly small areas in the region of Struma River Valley, in the south-west of Bulgaria.

The wines of the Rubin grape are distinguished by their dark red color, extractability, good, harmonious taste with nuances of blueberries, blackberries and violets, and have good aging potential.
