Wine has been produced on the cliffs in this scenic region since the Celts and Gallo-Romans inhabited the area. Today, this region is part of the Côte de Beaune, where wine is produced from both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Its 97.19 hectares (240 acres) of vineyards are planted at an elevation of 400 meters (1,310 feet), making it one of the highest and coolest regions in the area.

There are no Grands or Premiers Crus here, so all wines carry the Village wine label. The limestone and marl soil, combined with a cool climate, give both the red and white wines a high acidity with distinctive notes of minerality. Both styles are very accessible in the early years and pair perfectly with a range of dishes, from soft cheeses to fried fish.
