Avesso

Avesso is a white grape variety from Portugal. The avesso grape is most common in the Vinho Verde region in northern Portugal. The avesso grape flowers early in the season and is therefore harvested early (in September), has a high yield and fairly large grapes. The avesso variety is a fast grower where pruning back is very important. As a result, the moisture that the plant absorbs will end up in the grapes and not in branches and foliage. 

What does wine from the Avesso grape taste like?

Full aromas of ripe peach and juicy nectarine on the nose. The wines are soft and have body. When the sun can make its mark in the cooler climate, the Avesso wines show suggestions of tropical mango-like notes. They are velvety wines with a strong ripe character.
