Dolcetto is an early ripening blue grape. This grape is characteristic of northern Italy and in particular of Piedmont. Dolcetto means "little sweet". The grape produces a dry red wine with often firm tannins, which can be stored for years, especially after aging in wood.
the taste of the Dolcetto
This grape gives a wine with a relatively low acidity, soft tannins, while it gives aromas of a lot of black fruit, coffee and certainly a hint of violets. The wine makes a good combination with pasta and tomato sauce, lamb and hard aged cheeses such as Pecorino.
