2021 Domaine des Perdrix Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Perdrix Premier Cru
Aux Perdrix is a premier cru vineyard in the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. The plot, approximately 3.5 hectares in size, is almost entirely owned by one producer: Domaine des Perdrix. The vines were planted between 1922 and 1980. They are located on a gentle slope with a southeastern exposure south of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The grapes are picked by hand and extensively sorted. A cold peel maceration of 4 to 6 days follows to extract the phenolic compounds. The grapes are then destemmed and undergo another 15-day skin maceration. The alcoholic fermentation takes place spontaneously, after which the pressed and finished wine are separated and aged separately. The wine matures in traditional Burgundian 228 liter barrels for 15 to 18 months, of which 40% are new. The Perdrix Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Perdrix Premier Cru has an elegant taste with good acidity and freshness, soft red fruit, soft tannins, cream and subtlety. The scent of the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 'Aux Perdrix' is an excellent, beautiful intense pinot-noir, typified, soft fruit, cherries, strawberries, beautifully broad and subtle, vanilla, smoky.
If we look at the red wines from Burgundy, we must conclude that the beautiful examples come from the northern part of the Côte d'Or, the Côte de Nuits. Here are the wine villages where the Pinot Noir matures best, where the red Burgundies have the most finesse, combined with power and complexity. The center of the region is the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Around Nuits-Saint-Georges, and especially on the west side, are the vineyards where great Burgundies come from. These most beautiful vineyards all have their own name and the right to call themselves 'Premier Cru'. One of those beautiful Premiers Crus is Aux Perdrix, named after the partridges that often roam here. The Domaine des Perdrix takes its name from this vineyard, of which it also owns 99%, a 'quasi-monopole', as the label states. It produces beautiful, complex wines, even on the powerful side for Nuits-Saint-Georges. Awesome.
Domaine des Perdrix winery is located in Premeaux-Prissey, about 30 kilometers below Dijon in Burgundy. In 1996 this winery became owned by the Devillard family. Domaine des Perdrix owes its name to the partridges (perdrix) that walk around a lot. In total, the vineyards of Perdrix cover about 30 hectares, one of which is also located in Vosne-Romanée, a very famous village in the Côte de Nuits area.
The Côte de Nuits is world famous for the great, mainly red wines that come from here. The terroirs of winery Domaine des Perdrix are of great quality and therefore produce beautiful, complex wines. The winery uses all possibilities and works with the utmost care to make a nice glass of red wine. The grapes are picked by hand and carefully transported in small quantities so that they are not bruised. Fermentation takes place in open barrels. The wine is not pumped over, but the cap is regularly broken so that the wine does not get hard tannins. In short, an excellent winery with more than great wines!
