Domaine Anne Gros & Jean Paul Tollot are two very well-known winemakers from Burgundy and have joined forces in the South of France and started working there and if this top level starts working together, success is assured. The wines of Anne Gros and Jean Paul Tollot are of high quality and receive wonderful reviews in the press. Domaine Anne Gros & Jean Paul Tollot is located in the Causse, which is without doubt the best part of the Minervois, partly due to its altitude, which varies from 200 m to almost 500 m. This results in the lowest night temperatures in the Minervois and a slower thermal spring warming.
The L'O de la Vie from Domaine Anne Gros & Jean-Paul Tollot comes from an eight-year-old Syrah vineyard that covers two hectares. After manual picking, the Syrah grape bunches are selected, destemmed and lightly crushed. After a short soaking time, the temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation with wild (grape's own) yeasts is allowed to take place in stainless steel tanks. About three weeks later, the grapes are pressed and 50% of the young wine is transferred to clean stainless steel tanks and 50% to used barriques, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and matures. After 12 months, the wine is assembled and bottled without fining or filtering.
The Anne Gros & Jean Paul L'O de la Vie consists of 100% Syrah from vintage 2018. In the glass, the L'O de la Vie has a deep dark purple red colour. In the nose aromas of ripe wild raspberries, black cherries, pepper and something of violets. In the taste palette notes of ripe small red-black fruit, juniper berries and a spicy touch, accompanied by a soft aftertaste
