2020 Valdesil Asadoira Monopolio Sobre Lias

One of the stars in the field of white wines from the Valdeorras is the winery Val De Sil which focuses strongly on the Galician grape Godello. The bodega has its vineyards in the Sil valley with its unique egg-stone grounds which make the wines of this house unique. Floral, fresh and mineral.

The Valdesil Godello Asadoira Sobre Lias is a 100% Godello from a single vineyard of less than 3.93HA located on schist soil in the place of the same name on the slopes of the Sil valley in Valdeorras. The wine is only made in top years and the 2020 is the 3rd edition of this wine and is the successor of the 2018. Only 900 bottles are made. The Asadoira was allowed to mature at a very low temperature for 1 year on its own lees (sur lie or sobre lias) in concrete tanks and then after a year in stainless steel.

This is elegance with a capital E. Refined like all Valdesil wines, the long maturation without the influence of wood on its own yeasts provides notes of yeast, white flowers, dried flowers, slightly smoky. The taste is firm, balanced and harmonious, medium-bodied with good freshness and a dry finish, clearly showing the characteristic bitterness of the Godello. This is the third vintage (after 2016 and 2018) and a great addition to the Valdesil portfolio. A wine that becomes even more beautiful with aging.
