Description
Probably the most famous rosé internationally. Named the best producer of rosé in the world by the famous magazine "Decanter". The domain covers 53ha of which only 40 are planted with vineyards. The domain is ideally located on a slate terrace that plunges down to the Mediterranean near Brégançon. The domain dates back to the 18th century and has been owned by the Ott family since 1936, but they also make very nice white and red wines in a limited edition
Château Romassan is located near the village of Le Castellet. The château is dominated by the picturesque chapel that has watched over the domain in Bandol for almost three centuries. Since 1956, Château Romassan wines have benefited from the enthusiasm and obsession for perfect work of the Ott family. People work here without using poison or fertilizer.
The grapes are picked by hand and collected in crates of 30 kilos. After this, a second selection takes place followed by a gentle pressing, fermentation followed by a gentle m-alcoholic fermentation in thermo-regulatory vats and aging in foudres for 18 to 20 months. Any comparison, with any wine whatsoever, is flawed, Montaigne already knew that.
The Romassan Bandol Rouge by Ott has a deep ruby red color and a nose full of black currants, cherries, slightly spicy and bay leaf. In the mouth rich tannins, spices and red fruit. Firm aftertaste. This wine is a good accompaniment to beef, lamb, dishes with (forest) mushrooms or truffles, blackcurrants and/or soft cheeses. Château Romassan Rouge is a great, concentrated and deep cuvée composed of the best qualities of each plot. Château Romassan Red 2018 is a delicious red Bandol to drink now, but it can also rest for decades in the cellar or wine climate cabinet.
Château Romassan is a Bandol of great size, which tames the mourvèdre grape variety (Monastrel Spain) through the strength of its terroirs. The concentration and depth are added finesse and a unique silkiness. At any point in its evolution, up to fifteen years or more, one finds the beating heart of Bandol with its balance and controlled power. The terroir of Bandol is one of the jewels of Provence. Bathed in the sun and open to the sea, constantly beaten by the wind, the Mourvedre vineyard consists of marl and limestone soils particularly well adapted to the mourvèdre. In the valley, the grapes provide more juice and crispness, while on the slopes, at higher altitudes, they provide more strength and structure. The blending of these terroirs, exposed to different winds and climates, makes it possible to produce a cuvée with great aging potential, complex and precise.
GOOD FACT: The wine is stored in our conditioned Wine Warehouse and if you come to pick up the wine you will also receive a nice discount. We are almost next to the national road with plenty of parking space. Click here for address

Domaines Ott is undoubtedly the most famous rosé house in the world, but is certainly seen as the founder of Provence wines.
Due to the unique location of the vineyards and the manic pursuit of perfection, Ott is able to produce extremely pure rose's, white and red wines. Poison is not used because the vineyards of the top models of Domaines Ott (Romassan Bandol Coeur de Grain and Clos Mireille Coeur de Grain) are actually on the Mediterranean where the microclimate and the sea breeze (and misting of the surf of the sea) are favorable and provide unique conditions for the production of exceptional Ott wines.
“Le mourvèdre doît voir la mer” according to Christophe Renard of Domaine Ott. "He sees the sea", this main grape for the red and rosé from Bandol. It is planted on the terraces between the hills and the sea around the fishing village of Bandol. The 3000 annual hours of sunshine, the Mistral and the rainfall in autumn are the microclimate that allows the necessary late ripening of this thick-skinned grape. The AOP Bandol includes the towns of Bandol, Le Beausset, Le Castellet, La Cadière, Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, Sainte-Anne-d'Évenos, Sanary and Ollioules. The Bandols from the more northwestern Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer and Sainte-Anne-d'Évenos give slightly lighter and more elegant wines because of the pebble bottoms.
The red clay soil from the rest of the AOP provides tannin-rich wines that require a blend with cinsault and grenache in order to temper the intense character of the mouvedre. Syrah and carignan may participate for 15% of the assembly. The poor soil provides one of the lowest yields in France: a maximum of 40 hl / ha, and the planting is 5000 sticks per ha. The area produces 48,000 hectoliters annually, produced by 51 châteaux and 5 cooperatives. Mainly red and rosé (80%) is made. The Ott roses are also wines that still age well. The red certainly decades but also the rose gets better with age.
The Clos Mireille and Romassan Bandol rose are the top models and as of 2016 the rose Ott By Ott sees the light of day. A completely new quality rosé which is significantly lower in price than the world's best Romassan and Mireille. Here, too, demand will outstrip supply.
