Description
The vision of Stefano Accordini
In the heart of Valpolicella Classico, winemaker Stefano Accordini works passionately on compelling interpretations of traditional varietals. His 2009 Cuvée Acinatico is an expressive Amarone that boldly and expertly draws the most from Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes.
Valpolicella Classico: terroir and tradition
The vineyards are situated on well-drained slopes of calcareous soil in the historic heart of Valpolicella. Thanks to the significantly cool nights, the grapes retain a great deal of freshness and aromatic tension. Generous bunches are selected and dried in cold conditions, resulting in a concentrated and complex must.
Production process and maturation
After three to four months of appassimento fermentation, a long aging process of at least 48 months follows in large wooden barrels. This aging gives the wine both softness and depth. Bottle aging before release ensures elegant integration of fruit, acidity, and tannins, making Acinatico a wine with nuance and tranquility above all power.
Color, odor and flavor profile
Visually, Acinatico 2009 displays a deep garnet color with a bright rim. The nose offers an intense palette of dried cherries, plums, dark chocolate, spices, balsamic vinegar, tobacco leaf, and light smoky notes.
On the palate, the wine is full and round, with soft yet powerful tannins, ripe fruit, spices, and cocoa. The balance between concentration and acidity is maintained with precision. The finish is long, warm, and layered, with a palpable structure and an elegant sweetness without being cloying.
Why choose Stefano Accordini Acinatico 2009
This Amarone is a choice for those who appreciate wines that offer both power and nuance. Thanks to its atypically long aging and careful selection, the 2009 Acinatico boasts a gastronomic depth that makes it suitable for both now and decades to come. A wine that stands out in collections and menus – subtly different and memorable.

The 2009 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Acinatico is a dense and darkly concentrated expression (even more so than your average Amarone) that doles out long tones of campfire, smoked meat, black prune, candied fruit, teriyaki sauce and toast. This blend of 75% Corvina Veronese, 20% Rondinella and 5% Molinara shows enormous density and a surprisingly thick, heavy texture. Smoky oak and sweet barbecue flavors round out the finish. Drink 2015-2025.
Up the zigzagging strada provinciale 33 beyond the well-visited production zones of San Pietro in Cariano and Fumane is Stefano Accordini, near the sleepy town of Cavalo. In the 1970s, Stefano Accordini planted grapevines in the Bessole and Fornetto crus that make some of the estate’s best wines today. Years later, the Accordini family purchased more vineyards near Cavalo and Mazzurega at 550 meters above sea level. These are some of the highest growing spots in the Valpolicella. The bright acidity of the grapes often peeks through, helping to balance out the natural sweetness inherent to Amarone. Four generations of the Accordini family have been at the helm of this brand.

Hooggelegen wijngaarden in Valpolicella Classica
Traditionele stijl, moderne precisie
