Domaine de Triennes is a wine estate founded by two famous Burgundy houses: Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Domaine Dujac. With their world-famous domains they reached the absolute top in the wine field and they went looking for a new challenge. Together with a businessman from Paris, they went on an adventure in the South of France, where they discovered the Domaine du Logis de Nans in the Var, east of Aix-en-Provence, with its gently sloping south-facing slopes. They saw the cool microclimate and the clay and limestone soils as ideal for viticulture. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 400 meters and are planted with grape varieties that may not be typical of the region, but that best suit the terroir found. The estate was renamed Triennes, a reference to Triennia, the triennial festival around the Roman wine god Bacchus. Their goal has been achieved: to make wines in Provence with the same precision and finesse as in Burgundy, but fortunately for different prices!

Convinced by their Burgundian experience that the quality of great wines comes from the vineyard, the new owners began to invest heavily in the renewal and care of the vines. The focus on the vineyard remains a priority to this day. For white wines and rosé, it is mainly about the finesse of the fruit and the freshness of the wines. The cool microclimate that Triennes naturally has favors the acidity of the wines. For the red wines, the desire is to produce structured wines that combine ripe fruit with complexity, elegance and finesse.

Trienne has invested heavily in its vineyards. An ambitious replanting program was put in place from the very beginning. The goal was to create a healthy vineyard, with vines and rootstocks adapted to local growing conditions. They manage the vines as naturally as possible and in harmony with the environment. For example, they grow a ground cover every second row to control vigor, limit erosion and assimilate organic matter.
In 2008, Triennes started its organic conversion with Ecocert, which should lead to its certification in the near future.
