Domaine la Soufrandière is the branch of Bret Bros, the vines originally purchased by their grandfather in 1947 and taken over by the current generation in 2000 after they retired from the local cooperative.

This included four hectares in Pouilly-Vinzelles in Les Quarts, just half a hectare in Les Longeays and one hectare in Mâcon-Vinzelles, Le Clos de Grand-Père. These were expanded in 2016 with another five hectares of certified organic vines in Saint-Véran "La Bonnode", Pouilly-Fuissé Les Chatenays, Pouilly-Fuissé Les Vigneraies and a cheeky slice of Aligoté. The vines are up to 80 years old and the approach here is biodynamic, certified by Demeter, with part of the vineyard being worked by horses, whose name is "Coquette" if you ever meet her. The wines are aged in used barrels, there is hardly any new barrel to be seen, with a sulfite content between 40 and 70 mg/L. The wines of Jean-Philippe and Jean-Guillaume Bret are certainly not on the cheap side for the Mâcon region, but are cheaper than many white wines from the Côte de Beaune and the care and dedication are equal

At the beginning of August 2001, Bret Brothers was founded with the aim of producing very fine terroir wines, mainly from the wine region of Mâcon in southern Burgundy. This undoubtedly ambitious objective requires a series of strict specifications, namely:

selecting small plots of old vines worked by enthusiastic winegrowers, on very specific terroir;

buy standing grapes only (100% of all grapes purchased are certified organic or in conversion);

handpicking of ripe grapes by our own team;

vinification with 100% natural yeasts;

aged and bottled in-house;

all these steps are carried out with the same care, the same passion as for the grapes from our estate La Soufrandière .
