Minella bianca is a white Italian wine grape variety native to the island of Sicily, where it is grown at the foot of Mount Etna. The name Minella is derived from the Sicilian word minna "small breast" to which the berries bear some resemblance due to their elongated shape. Minella bianca is very rarely seen as a variety and is most commonly used in blends with Carricante and Catarratto bianco or even with the red wine grape Nerello Mascalese and is found in the fine Etna Bianco and Rosso DOC wines where it is one of the grapes allowed according to the rules of the Appelation.
