Lagrein
Lagrein
The Lagrein is a native red grape variety from the South Tyrol region, or Alto-Adige, located in the north of Italy, south of the Austrian region of Tyrol. The Lagrein has grown enormously in popularity in recent years. Wine has been made from the Lagrein grape for many years. A document from 1813 found in Bolzano mentions the Lagreiner. It was the time of Charles IV. He was a big fan of the Lagreiner. The grape grows best in a limestone-clay-like soil.
