Maison Champy

Maison Champy is the oldest winery in Burgundy and was founded in 1720 in Beaune. Louis Pasteur worked at this iconic domain to learn the trade and, after the construction of the Eiffel Tower for the World Exhibition in Paris, Gustave Eiffel worked at Maison Champy and designed the building for the Maison Champy winery according to the Eiffel architectural style.

Maison Champy manages a large part of its 21 hectares of vineyards on the Côte de Beaune - mainly in Pernand-Vergelesses - organically to preserve and emphasize the true character of this exceptional terroir. Precision viticulture is the goal of Maison Champy. The importance of the environment means that every treatment follows the practices of sustainable and organic farming.

Vosne-Romanée, Gevrey-Chambertin, Clos Vougeot Grand cru, Echezeaux Grand Cru, Charmes-Chambertin, Mazis Chambertin are some of the famous wines made by Maison Champy in its historic cellars in the heart of Beaune.

With three centuries of history and experience, Maison Champy has built up precious know-how in the selection of rare and sought-after Burgundian crus. This is especially the case for Côte de Nuits, where long-term partnerships allow Maison Champy to monitor the work in the vineyards throughout the year, right up to harvest, before taking over both the winemaking and maturation processes and for that reason the Maison Champy wines are also called "Haute-couture" wines because volumes are extremely low with an average of only two barrels per wine.
